Last Thursday, on the first of June, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office published the draft of the “2017 Strategy Plan Regarding Industrial Property” on their website. The plan lists twenty-seven measures which fall within four main lines of action:
Spain currently ranks twenty-eighth according to the Global Innovation Index that analyses eighty different indicators to measure the innovation of a country.
The situation has changed little since the first study in this respect that took place in 2007 ranked Spain twenty-seventh.
The Plan highlights that the number of patent filed by Spanish residents continues to be low in comparison with other countries. In this aspect, Spain ranks thirty-eighth.
We trust that the measures announced in this Plan help improve this position, which would certainly impact company formation and job creation.
